Thanksgiving 2013

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanksgiving was amazing! It was our first Thanksgiving in our new home and it was beautiful! The food was so delicious, everyone did a great job with what they brought and I have to give lots of thanks to my mom for teaching me how to make the turkey this year. Usually I help her with one side dish but this year I actually watched the whole process and I have to tell you it doesn't look as difficult as I thought it would be. I am going to try to make a turkey for Curt's family over Christmas however I am going to do something different that my mom doesn't do and I am going to brine it before. The turkey was so good it probably doesn't need it at all but I thought it would be interesting to see what all this brining business is all about. Bella watched her Grammy stuff the turkey while she ate apples. She even offered her a glass of wine (not my proudest moment) but hey she is a sponge and at least she was being a good hostess. Vivi played with her cousins and was happy as usual.
I am so thankful for everyone at this table and everyone at the kiddie table, I think we have been incredibly lucky the past few years. It was nice to have said grace at the table this year and tell everyone what I am so thankful for.

What are you thankful for?

Thanksgiving is the time to spend at home with your family. If you can spend every second with them do it! Forget about the shopping deals and focus on what matters. We are only with our loved ones for so long so make every moment count. Take a minute during your day to think about what you are most thankful for. How your world has changed because they are in your life? I know I feel grateful each and every day. I make sure to Thank God and count my blessings every night before bed. I hope my children do the same on Thanksgiving. There might be a lot of hustle and bustle but we need to relax and take our family and friends in.

Life is good!

I got the bug! Grrrrrr

Of course I ended up getting the D bug! Ugh! Hopefully it's gone by Thursday so I can eat whatever I want and I also hope my husband doesn't get it. Oh well, I'm just glad the girls are starting to feel better.

Today we spent the day inside because of all the rain. There will be snow tomorrow into Thursday up north but I doubt we will get any. It would be so nice if we had a snowy Thanksgiving though.
We spent most of the day in the basement making art, playing with toys and listening to Christmas music! Tis the season!! I love these girls to death they are so sweet. I am so glad they have each other to play with everyday. They laugh and love to play peek a boo it's so cute to hear them laugh hysterically to such a silly little game.
Highlight of my day: seeing Vivi take her first steps to me! Good job Vivi!!!!
I made chicken pot pie for dinner the girls loved it and no one was sick besides me!

Diarrhea and Pink

The girls both have a virus and it's full of lots of diarrhea. I feel so bad for them they were so sick all weekend long. I feel like Bella just gets one sickness after another and it's never ending. I hope they recover before Thanksgiving.

Curt came home today for lunch and both girls were so clingy and needy they just wanted to be held.
I love all of them!

My mother's day gift this past year was tickets to go see Pink in concert at the Verizon Center. I invited my friend Mary and we had a great night. It was so fun to get out with a girlfriend and have a ladies night packed with good music. I loved the show it was so entertaining and she is an unbelievable performer. I was not bored one second. Every single song was so good!!! I don't know how she has so much energy dancing around for two hours but it was impressive. I loved seeing her perform and I would love to see her again.

Date night :)

Happy Friday everyone,
God I love the weekends! Finally I get a minute to breath and not run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Today was a HARD Friday. I had runny noses, bella was up ALL last night coughing, there was lots of diarrhea and so the house was a mess. However, I tackled all of it early this morning and throughout the day and still had time to take a shower and blow dry my hair for my date tonight. Curt and I haven't gone out in a very long time just the two of us. I actually remember the last time and it was after Back to School night which was early September. People it's late November. Tonight won't be the most memorable or exciting but I like low key Friday nights and so does Curt. We have a babysitter coming in a half hour (im still in my pj's) and we have a movie at 7:10 we are seeing the new Tom Hanks movie. Then hopefully hitting up Rosa Mexicano for a late night dinner. Sounds like a perfect night to me! I really wanted to see Catching Fire but the thought of being around teenagers with their loud annoying voices, clapping and texting turns me off. We are going to the fancy Mazza Gallery to be in the 21+ theatre where we can sip cocktails while watching Mr. Hanks. I love him! I love anyone right now! Im just so happy to not have to clean up poop for a few hours. Did I mention Vivi has a virus of some sort? I was covered in Desitin today and it was not awesome.
What are you doing tonight?
And she opened her mouth when i was giving her a kiss!
        Goodnight! Xoxo

Day at the mall

Today I had to go to the mall to pick up my contacts. We walk around a little then of course head to the kiddie play yard that they have in the middle of the mall. It's not my favorite place in the world bc of the millions of germs that my kids clearly don't need bc they are always sick but its mainly the guilt that takes over. I mean they are being sweet little angels all buckled up in their stroller for awhile that you just feel bad for them after so long. I let them play, they of course had so much fun making new friends running and exploring possibly picking up a new virus.
It's funny bc there were so many times before I became a mother where I told myself I will never ever do this or that. Now that I AM a mother I laugh at myself for being so blind. I completely understand why parents do the things they do.
I remember I told myself I would never be that cruel parent that puts their kid on a leash. Well, when you are in a crowd and your kid wants to walk that's what you do and we have two leashes.
I told myself I would never be one of those bad parents that takes their kids to a bar on a Saturday. Well, we've taken the kids to bars a few times and we'll do it again. We aren't being bad parents we are being social normal parents that need to have fun too.
There are probably many more examples but those are just a few.

Vivi sitting on some little girl in the tunnel.
Me: "oh im sorry honey, is she hurting you sitting on top of you?"
Little girl: "yes"
Little girl doesnt move when I take Vivi off
Me: "well you should probably not lay in the tunnel or you might get hurt again."
Little girl doesnt move.

Sheer fear in Bella's eyes! This Christmas will be so fun!!

This was taken about 5 min before Vivi had explosive diarrhea when we got home. Fun times!

Fall cookies and antibiotics galore!

Yesterday morning I called my pediatrician and basically put my foot down that the Dr. needed to send Bella an antibiotic ASAP! I couldn't take it anymore. My poor little girl has been really sick since September. The last antibiotic they gave her did not work at all and I knew it after the first few days. Luckily she sent me one so she began it yesterday. I haven't seen much difference yet so hopefully by tomorrow she will be getting better. Vivi is teething right now so she has been uncomfortable too, waking up at night and she also has a slight fever.

The girls napped a lot, played in the basement and watched Beauty and the Beast. We also made fall/Thanksgiving cookies but they might not last for Thanksgiving! Bella had so much fun decorating them. She kept saying, "I need to do this" as she would take sprinkles and shove them in her mouth or "I need to do this" and take a bite out of a cookie.

Today Bella is taking the day off from school so she can rest. She still has a very runny nose so I hate sending her in. Here are some pictures from this morning. They are getting cozy on the couch watching cartoons.
I am going to make some chicken noodle soup for these sweet babies. They love it and so do we! It's such a cold day today so it's a perfect day to make it.
  I love my sickies

Back to the body cleanse...

So I finished my body cleanse and probably lost a pound or two. My scale doesn't work hahaha so that is an issue. I am either 117 or 120 on my scale. If it goes to 117 for a second then to 120 I figure I lost a pound or two. Maybe Santa will bring me an accurate scale that works for Christmas.
I definitely noticed that my pants fit much better and I'm pretty sure I lost all water weight. I just felt a little bit more healthy overall and less bloated.
Doing the cleanse was beneficial because I think it puts you in the mindset of ok I want to eat healthy and make better choices. So in the mornings I am having carbs but I am having a small bowl of honey nut cheerios with a cup of coffee or green tea. Light healthy snacks throughout the day (nuts, fruit, etc) with mainly protein for lunch and lots of water. I try to have a balanced dinner and I am keeping away or having small portions of rice/cous cous/pasta.
I am just thinking about the holidays and how close we are to eating all of those delicious cookies, turkey, stuffing and pie galore so I figure why not lose a few pounds before we indulge?
Now on that note...im gonna go prep thanksgiving cookies! Hahaha!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Casual Monday

Today was a good day. Woke up took Bella to school, came home showered and heard that Vivi was awake in her crib so we went out! We went to Bed Bath and Beyond to return a mat then headed over to Home Goods to see if they had any other mats that would look good in the kitchen. Home Goods is the devil. I am so in love with it but I spend way tok much money everytime I go! Maybe I should give up Home Goods for lent.

Vivi was a trooper the whole morning. She never fusses when we are out. Recently she has been wanting me to hold her a lot so she reached for me a few times for hugs but besides that she was amazing. She is happy as can be looking around and flirting with other shoppers.
We came home ate lunch and then Daddy came home to watch Vivi while I picked Bella up from school.

After the girls woke up from their naps, I vacuumed the bedrooms and did some laundry then as I started dinner while the girls watched Beauty and the Beast. After dinner we made art and played in the basement with Daddy.
It was this kind of a lazy Monday. I like these kind of Monday's.

Sick weekend

Curt came down with a little cold so we have been laying low this weekend for the most part.
On Friday we had some friends come over to play with Bella and Vivi in our basement. We pushed back the couches and made lots of room for them to have play space. We listened to disney songs, ate pirate booty and had pizza. I think they had a great time. I know my little Vivi did she ate all the pizza she could get her hands on.

Today we ran errands we went to the mall and accidentally ran into Santa Claus...then went to Costco. Our Saturday's are getting out of control!! I saw Santa and was a little taken back by it because it is only november 16th so it is BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! Why is Santa at the mall before Thanksgiving? Well, I told Bella that he happened to stop by to take a few pictures with the boys and girls to see how they were acting. Then... Santa'a helper happened to mention to Santa that we were looking at him. He glanced up with a smile to Bella and she walked away frightened saying, "Santa not scary."
Yup, I think we will have another year of crying screaming children with Santa.

Tonight we all went to dinner with the family. We came home took baths and the kids went to bed. I happened to stay up to watch a movie called "A Good Woman" and there was a quote at the end of the movie that was so perfect but I hate the word perfect so it was awesome..."We can't shut our eyes to everything that isn't perfect...otherwise we might fall into a huge abyss." There is no perfect but we try everyday to make things as great as they can be.

I love you Curt.
           Goodnight!
